Meet The Team
Director and Founder of IgniteYou
Becci Gowers started her dancing career back in 2005 and then qualified as a Dance Teacher in 2006 through the United Kingdom Alliance. She was an original member of dance troupe Flava and had the amazing experience of getting through to the live Semi-Finals and performing in front of Simon Cowell on Britains Got Talent in 2008, after which they toured the world performing and teaching. She has worked with various police forces across the UK, including the Metropolitan Police and the Home Office tackling issues such as knife crime in high risk areas. This is where she found my true passion in building peoples confidence and making them aware of their true potential.
Over the course of the last 10 years Becci has also been involved with many local and national organisations providing dance and movement confidence workshops for people with additional needs.
She has worked with organisations such as Mencap, Curnow School, Choices Day Services, Cornwall Down Syndrome Support Group and The National Autistic Society.
She qualified in 2011 as a Zumba Instructor and Exercise To Music and since then has updated her teachers qualification with United Dance Organisation.
In 2016 she qualified as a Naturopathic Nutritional Therapist and since then has also passed various diplomas in Sports Nutrition and Herbalism. She will be going back to her studies in 2019 and will look to complete a Masters in Personalised Nutrition.
Becci is incredibly passionate about people feeling epic. She wants everyone to feel the best the possibly can, whether it is through dance, nutrition, community or belonging. She believes in people, in human nature and this is why she created IgniteYou, so that people could feel awesome!!
Director, Co-ordinator and Administrator
I started dancing as a child. Later in life I attended classes at Pineapple Dance Studios and the Royal Academy of Dance.
I gained my teaching qualification with the International Dance Teachers Association in 2001.
For me, when growing up (well into my 30’s!!) I found the dance world elitist and it wasn’t for me – my body shape didn’t fit !
However, I rekindled my love for dance when I started working for disability charities in 2005 and from there my love for inclusive and accessible dance grew and flourished.
I had a little break in my career when my twins arrived and then started working in partnership with Becci in 2013. We developed an amazing dance project within a Cornish disability charity together – performed many dance flash mobs, regular dance socials and Arts Awards in Dance for Disabled Children & Young People.
I have joined the IgniteYou team to continue developing accessible dance and nutrition.

My name is Alex Thomas, I started dancing at the age of 6, I didn’t know what to think at first but my sister insisted I joined her at a dance charity based in Camborne called the Tr14ers. Therefore this was when I went to my first session and I fell completely in love with it, I understand I was young but I felt safe and comfortable, because being bullied most of my childhood I was always quite scared to try new thing and joining tr14ers changed my life completely and my views towards things, everyone generated amazing vibes that you would just never want to leave! In addition, I started to go every Friday and being committed to it so therefore at the age of thirteen I was offered the chance to become a Leader for the Tr14ers, to choreograph/teach and perform; to become a role model to the younger kids that joined us. I began learning and experiencing new styles and realised that I not only wanted to continue learning but mainly I realised that I want to build a career and teach full time.
From performing and teaching at tr14ers in various places around the county such as Exeter, Skegness, I was recognised by a Company called 4 Funx Sake where they offered me a place in there competing team, by doing this I have gained knowledge in this competing world, gaining experience competing against others and growing my confidence to a professional standard. Since then I have performed/competed in many places such as Wales, Taunton, Cheadle and have plans to visit Austria to teach for a week.
Nevertheless, I want to work for IgniteYou as a Hip Hop teacher/dancer as it is a very different experience to the many I’ve enjoyed. Knowing that they are enjoying the classes I teach is just the best feeling that not only keeps them motivated, but also myself. I look forward to the many opportunities that may come in the future.
Jamie has been dancing since he was very young. (must be at least 10 years) “Dancing makes me feel happy, I like to help others dance so they can feel the music making them happy too!”
