New Year. New me. Clean Eating. Dry January and the new one I heard the other day was Veganuary. How’s that all going for everyone? I know I was buzzing at the start of January and had so much energy after a break at Christmas. However two weeks in and I was starting to get familiar aches and pains and moral was becoming low, not just with me but with a lot of people I know. I also learnt this year about Blue Monday which is apparently the most depressing day of the year. So much sadness and negative focus after such a positive start. So I am declaring a new focus. ‘Feel Good February!’. Like the sound of it?! I know I do.
Don’t get me wrong, I think it is amazing, positive and imperative to set targets and goals. Not only for how you look but for what you want in your life. It’s also the time of year that people do take time to think about what they want and plan how they are going to do it from the 1st January. But I do think it is setting yourself a very hard challenge after a month of overindulgence, and December is pretty stressful in a lot of ways. I now think January should be a time to recuperate after these stresses of Christmas and 2015, and be much kinder to our fragile bodies. This could be along the lines of less time on social media, phones or laptops, doing 10 minutes of mindfulness each day, going for a walk, making more time for family and friends or incorporating some new healthy foods. Then once you have embraced these changes you can start to look at the bigger picture, whether it be improving your existing fitness and nutrition goals, a complete overhaul of your diet or a complete new exercise program. The pressure wont be there in regards to ‘New Years Resolutions’, you can set your pace, you are back into the swing of work and life. Your motivation will be more sustainable.
So if you can’t even remember what your New Years resolutions were, let alone still be successful with them, never fear. Feel Good February is HERE! Get those goals started and go for gold.
